What an amazing community you will find within the borders of Point Pleasant Beach! Consisting of a very stable base of approximately 5,500 year round residents that range from lifelong (or even multi-generational) residents to professional fisherman berthing their boats in the Manasquan Inlet to city commuters who found the perfect Jersey Shores home, and adding in the second-home owners and summer vacationers who return every year, Point Pleasant Beach is loved by just about everyone who has spent time here. Located at the northern end of Ocean County, Point Pleasant Beach has something for everyone. With the deep bottomed Manasquan River for recreational boating, a great downtown shopping district, the beautiful oceanfront beach and boardwalk, many lovely treed residential neighborhoods with a true 'beach' feel, and a renowned school system with a well-deserved reputation of educating our kids 'to the max', all this will help keep property values high for generations to come. You can even find a local water taxi for riverfront transportation! The downtown area, spreading out from either side of Arnold Avenue, features restaurants, coffee shops, souvenirs and beach necessities, clothing shops, sailmakers, riggers, and the original Point Pleasant Iron Works. A 'must see' is the Beach's kicky antique shops clustered around The Antique Emporium, which all by itself is a three-story treasure trove of 120+ individual antique dealers located at the corner of Trenton and Bay Avenues. The boardwalk is great for strolling and includes rides and amusements sections for both the little ones and the older kids, souvenirs, eateries overlooking the waves, beachfront rentals and upscale bars for adult relaxation. Don't forget to check out Jenkinson's Aquarium at feeding time. By far, Beach's biggest (and most fun) event is the long-running (30 years and counting!) Festival of the Sea, a fantastic street fair that takes over the town on a mid-September weekend each year. The Festival begins with a 5-mile run early in the morning and ends with fireworks on the beach at dusk, then continues the next day with the "Hey Rube, Get A Tube" parade through town and an inner tube race across the sands and through the still-warm surf. For the entire day, Arnold Avenue is closed to traffic beginning at Route 35 and running west to the edge of town, branching out to several side streets along the way. Highlighting the Festival are the many local food venders offering their specialties, ranging from whole boiled lobsters, crab cakes, paella, lobster bisque, and barbequed ribs to butterfly fries, ice cream and made-while-you-wait kettle korn. Free shuttles stop at several parking lots to transport faregoers to and from the grounds. Whether you're looking for a beautiful year-round residence, a beachy second home for the summer, or a great vacation rental, it's hard to beat all that Point Pleasant Beach has to offer!
